Harvard FCU Selects Top Submissions from Student Essay Contest
In collaboration with the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA), Harvard FCU is happy to announce the three winners of the 2022 Middle School Student Essay Contest. In their submissions, students responded to a prompt asking them to share details of of how the recent pandemic has impacted their lives. They shared details about how attending school has changed for them, the loss of loved ones, and how the ordeal transformed their personal growth as pre-teenagers.
All three Harvard FCU finalists are eighth-graders. Congratulations to Isabella John from Trinity Catholic Academy in Brockton; Sophia Yan from Oak Hill Middle School in Newton; and Alyssa Hutchinson from Nauset Regional Middle School in Brewster. These three students will now advance to the CCUA state finals where there will be eight winners with prizes ranging from $50 to $500. Winners will be selected by early April, and the CCUA award ceremony will take place on May 20th.
“These students represent the best and brightest in Massachusetts and Harvard FCU is proud to highlight their creativity,” comments Sarah Scruggs, Community Engagement Specialist at Harvard FCU. The students represented several middle schools throughout the state. More than 60 students from close to 30 schools participated in the essay writing contest.
