Harvard FCU’s Annual Membership Meeting is coming up!

All members are welcome to join us to hear from the CEO and Board Chairman about the 2024 performance of Harvard FCU, and hear the results of the 2025 Board of Directors election.

Where

The Harvard FCU Annual Meeting will be held in-person at the Harvard Faculty Club: 20 Quincy Street.

When

The Annual Meeting will take place March 18th. Doors will open at 5 P.M. and the meeting will begin at 5:15 P.M.

Election

At this meeting, we will announce the results of the 2025 Board of Directors election, which will be held prior to the meeting.

2025 Board of Directors Election

The Nominating Committee is recommending the following five (5) individuals for election to the Board:

*incumbent

April has served for 8 years on the board of the Harvard Federal Credit Union and is currently the Board Secretary and Chair of the Governance Committee, and a member of the Executive Committee. She has also served on the Credit and Compensation Committees. She is the founder and President of Edrington Consulting. She previously served as Senior Director for Strategic Priorities and Senior Director of Alumni and Development Services in AA&D at Harvard.

Prior to that, she was Managing Director of Institutional Partnerships at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health, Director of University Corporate and Foundation Relations, and Major Gifts and Foundation Officer at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.

Prior to her Harvard career, she served at several nonprofit organizations including the National Women’s Political Caucus and NARAL. She is Secretary of the Association of Harvard College Class Secretaries and Treasurers, alumni board member of the Phillips Brooks House Association, and board member of the National Military Family Association.

She previously served on the Trust Advisory Committee of the Harvard Management Company and is an alumna of Harvard College and the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Harman is a dedicated healthcare finance leader with a strong commitment to improving patient care, optimizing operational efficiencies, and enhancing financial practices. As the Director of Physician Practice Operations at Mass General Brigham, she oversees operations across multiple hospitals, where her focus is on creating smoother workflows, implementing effective financial compensation models, and supporting the incredible clinicians and staff who make it all happen. Harman is driven by the power of collaboration and feels privileged to work alongside teams committed to transforming care delivery and advocating for stronger financial practices.  

In addition to her role at Mass General Brigham, Harman is honored to serve on the Board of the Harvard Federal Credit Union, where she leverages her expertise in financial strategy and governance to support the organization’s long-term success and its diverse membership. As a member of the Information Technology and Governance Committees, she ensures that the credit union’s business decisions are aligned with the needs of its community. Throughout her career, Harman remains focused on the people she serves—whether they are patients, healthcare teams, or credit union members—believing that everyone deserves to be supported and heard.

Harman holds a Masters in Health Administration from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Florida.

Shahar is the Vice President of Strategy and Product Management at PayPal where he helps shape strategies around how the company offers products to answer the diverse financial needs of consumers and businesses. His responsibilities include driving strategic enterprise-wide initiatives around Digital Trust & Engagement and leading the company’s Common Platform Product teams (Identity, Risk, Compliance, Customer Service, Disputes, and Privacy). He represents PayPal at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Digital Trust working group.

Prior to PayPal, he worked at American Express, an electric vehicle start-up, Better Place, and as a management consultant at Accenture.

Shahar is passionate about empowering people to improve their financial health. He is the co-founder of a popular personal finance class at Harvard University where he has helped hundreds of undergraduates improve their financial health. He is also the founder of a personal finance education company, Acing Your Finances, which partners with universities, companies, and organizations to deliver programs that help students and employees develop healthy financial habits. He has had the privilege of working with students at Wharton, Columbia, NYU, University of Chicago, and Johns Hopkins as well as lawyers at Skadden, Debevoise, and Schulte Roth, resident physicians at Mount Sinai Hospital, and employees at Doordash. As a contributing writer for Forbes, he regularly shares financial advice with millions of readers.

Shahar graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Cornell University with a BA in Economics and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School. He proudly serves on the Board of Directors of both the Harvard Federal Credit Union and the Frances Jacobsen Early Childhood Center.

Mary has been a committed Board Member of the Harvard Federal Credit Union for 20 years, where she currently serves as Treasurer and Chair of the Asset and Liability Management (ALM) Committee, as well as sits on the Compensation and Governance Committees. Over the years, she has contributed her expertise through roles on the Audit and Information Technology committees. With over three decades of experience at Harvard University, Mary is currently the Assistant Vice President of Central Finance and Administration. In this role, she oversees financial, administrative, and project management operations for Harvard’s central administration. Her diverse professional background includes experience in finance, human resources, risk management, procurement, and IT project management.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Mary serves on the Board of the Rey Cultural Center in Waterville Valley, NH. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Public Accounting from Pace University and a Master of Education in Higher Education from Harvard University.

Stephanie is currently a Managing Director of Financial Planning and Analysis in Harvard’s Alumni Affairs and Development Office (AA&D). In this role, she supports financial forecasting reporting and assists with long term financial planning for this organization. She has served AA&D for nearly 12 years, initially in the University Planned Giving Office as an assistant and subsequently in Operations and Project Management. She has contributed significantly to Harvard University by specializing in technical projects supporting charitable donations and has navigated major organizational transitions and spearheaded the development of financial reporting suites supporting charitable activity. Stephanie received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Smith College in both Architecture and Italian Studies in 2011, and completed the Bridge Program at the Tuck School of Business the same year. Known for an analytical approach and collaborative spirit, Stephanie is committed to fostering innovation within academia’s financial landscapes.

The credit union will not conduct an election by ballot when the number of nominees equals the number of open positions.
Members may also make nominations for vacancies. For a nominee to be added to the ballot, the nomination must include:
  • The qualifications of the nominee
  • A petition signed by 500 Harvard FCU members
  • A certificate signed by the nominee stating that they are agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected to office
